• Important Notice

  Throughout the day on Tuesday 12th February and Wednesday 13th February the school is expecting a high volume of over-sized deliveries onto site via the temporary entrance on Willowbrook Drive. Although we have been informed the deliveries should not affect drop off or collection times (08:45-09:15 and 15:00-15:30), we have been advised that the roads adjacent to school (roundabout of Llaneirwg Way and Willowbrook Drive) can expect a series of traffic delays at all other times. Please can you note these details in order to plan ahead.

  We aim to return to normal on Monday 4th February.  Breakfast club from 8.15am with school starting at 8.55am.  If there are any changes, we will update everyone in the usual manner.  Have a lovely weekend and many thanks for your understanding. Diolch.

  Due to the weather conditions Oakfield Primary School will be closed today.  Please check the website and twitter feeds for regular updates.  The decision to close is based on a high number of staff unable to travel in from areas affected by snow and ice.  We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.

• Weather Forecast - Friday 1st February 2019

  We are currently liaising with the Local Authority and we are continuing to regularly monitor the latest weather updates.  At present the Cardiff area is facing an amber weather alert where there is a high likelihood of freezing conditions and snowfall overnight. 

   

  A decision on if the school will open tomorrow, Friday 1st February, will be made before 6.30am in the morning.  Please continue to check our website, Twitter feed and push notifications on the School app for further information.  

• School OPEN on Thursday 24th January 2019

  The heating and drainage issues have now been resolved and school will be OPEN tomorrow (Thursday 24th January).    We look forward to welcoming the children back at 8.55am.  Breakfast club will be open from 8.15am.  We again apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your support.

• SCHOOL CLOSURE - Wednesday 23rd January 2019

  URGENT. Due to freezing conditions overnight the school has encountered drainage and heating issues. This means the school is CLOSED TODAY on health and safety grounds. Contractors are on site and will work until the issues are resolved.  Sincere apologies for the inconvenience we know this will cause.

• New Classroom and Building Works

  New Classroom and Building Works

   

  The planning stage for the building of the four new classrooms is now complete & work will start on 7^th January 2019. The work will be taking place on the Foundation Phase yard and this will mean that we will need to change how we line up in the mornings and timetable our play times.

   

  The first day back to school after the Christmas holiday is Tuesday 8^th January and safety fencing should have already been put in place around the whole of the Foundation Phase yard.

   

  This means that the path from the Willowbrook Drive entrance through to the Key Stage 2 yard will be narrow. In order to ease congestion the following start of day procedures will be in place:

The Adult Learning team will be holding a series of enrolment events across the City starting Monday 7th January: Monday 7th January, ​10am - 1pm, ​Severn Road Centre ​Tuesday 8th January, 10am - 12pm, ​Powerhouse Llanedeyrn Hub ​Tuesday 8th January, ​1pm - 3pm, ​St Mellons Hub Wednesday 9th January​, ​10am - 12pm, ​Grangetown Hub Thursday 10th January​, ​10am - 1pm, ​Ely Hub Learning for Work courses are funded by the Welsh Government and are designed to support eligible individuals to return to employment, training or further education. • Pantomime - end of day arrangements

  Just a reminder that children will return to school at 4pm today. Please avoid the coned off areas on Willowbrook Drive for coaches to park safely. All children will then be brought back into school and should be collected from their classrooms. Thank you.
