Blwyddyn Pedwar
The year 4 class teachers are Mrs. Keenan, Mrs Ball and Mr Hiscock

This term we will be reading and interpreting a variety of texts, and producing extended writing as part of our Literacy lessons. We will be working on genres such as instructions, newspaper reports, recounts, play scripts and narratives.
In Mathematics it is important to be clear on our multiplication fact families, we are learning our 7, 8 and 9 times tables this term as well as re-capping those previously learnt. Please ask your child what they are learning. Homework is provided every week based on the topic being developed. Maths homework can be accessed via www.activelearnprimary.co.uk. Your child will have their own individual username and password which they will be reminded of during the next few weeks. We are continuing to work on ‘Big Maths’ so ask your children what they do on their whiteboards in order to help them at home.
During the Autumn Term we will be learning about The Tudors as part of our History topic. We will be investigating themes such as:
During our topic we will be applying not just our Literacy skills but also our Maths skills by reading, creating and interpreting graphs and tables. In addition we will be developing our ICT skills by using the iPads to help us learn! Later in the term, we hope to visit Llancaiach Fawr where we will step back in time and have the chance to try on Tudor clothing and take a deeper dive into what Tudor life was like!
PE this term will be taking place on a Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure your child has their kit available on this day. In order to help the children remember their kit, we suggest sending kit in on a Monday and taking it home on a Tuesday after school. In addition to this, we will be having African Drum lessons every Wednesday afternoon! This will give the children a fantastic opportunity to indulge in their creative sides!
Good luck and welcome back!
