We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Christmas Fayre this Friday, 30th November @ 3:30pm. There will be so much to see and do at our wonderful annual festive event. Nadolig Llawen!
Are we all off to the pantomime on Thursday to see Jack and the Beanstalk? Oh yes we are! Is school uniform needed? Oh yes it is! School will be providing snacks to make this a really special and exciting trip.
Professor Graham Donaldson is responsible for writing the document 'Successful Futures'. The recommendations from this document have been used to write the 'New Curriculum for Wales'.

Professor Donaldson visited Oakfield on 23rd October 2018. He completed a tour of the school and got to meet our wonderful pupils and staff. It was also a privilege to discuss the changes being made to the Welsh Curriculum.
Spot the signs of Sepsis
SEPSIS is a potentially life-threatening condition; however, it can be easily treated if caught early.

Spot THE SIGNS
SEPSIS could occur as the result of any infection. There is no one sign for SEPSIS.
SEPSIS is a serious condition that can initially look like flu, gastroenteritis or a chest infection.
Seek medical help urgently if you develop any or one of the following:
Slurred speech or confusion
Extreme shivering or muscle pain
Passing no urine (in a day)
Severe breathlessness
It feels like you're going to die
Skin mottled or discoloured
SEPSIS in Children
If your child is unwell with either a fever or very low temperature (or has had a fever in the last 24 hours), just ask: could it be SEPSIS?
Any child who:
- Is breathing very fast
- Has a ‘fit' or convulsion
- Looks mottled, bluish, or pale
- Has a rash that does not fade when you press it
- Is very lethargic or difficult to wake
- Feels abnormally cold to touch
Might have SEPSIS. Call 999 and just ask: could it be SEPSIS?
Any child under 5 who:
- Is not feeding
- Is vomiting repeatedly
- Hasn't had a wee or wet nappy for 12 hours

Back to school arrangements:
Years 1 - 6 and 12 return on Tuesday 4th September. Nursery and Reception children have been given their personal starting days. If you are not sure please call the school on 02920 799396 to confirm starting arrangements.
Everyone needs to focus on arriving at school for 8.55am where all staff will meet the children. We will also have staff on the school gates to greet you and direct everyone to your lining up areas on the school yard.
Breakfast club for all Y1 to 6 children starts as usual at 8.15am. Free of charge to all!

We can’t wait to see everyone and hope you all enjoy the last week of the summer holidays. Sharpen your pencils. Polish your shoes and start thinking about what you want to achieve in the year ahead.
Literacy workshop on Wednesday 16thMay (2.00pm – 3.00pm) for parents and carers of children in Y3 – Y6. Please come to the junior hall.
This is a 'Times Credits' event.
This Friday (18th May) there will be a very special ‘high tea’ style lunch to celebrate the Royal Wedding made by the kitchen staff. This will include pizza slices, sandwiches, sausage rolls, various fruits along with cakes and jelly and ice-cream for afters. The cost of the lunch is £2.50.
